One Year Ago Today

February 21, 2012

366 days ago, I had zero intention or desire to live anywhere outside of my only home of 27 years: Vancouver, BC.

The following day, February 21st, 2011, my mind inexplicably started nudging me along a path that has brought me to where I am today, living in the city of Los Angeles, California.

I am forever grateful for the friends and family that have supported me throughout the transition. I rarely felt that moving here was as drastic a change as sometimes I realize it actually is.. which is probably in part due to my unruffled nature.. hah.. but mostly owed to the all people around me, in both cities. I’m pretty sure I’ve met more people and made more friends in my first few months in LA than during any other period in my life. Although a stranger in a new city, it felt like home before I even settled in.

And it’s only appropriate that the tweet above, my very first expression of a desire to relocate, mentions @Colione because it really goes without saying that I couldn’t have (or perhaps more accurately “wouldn’t have”) taken on the move without the boundless support and hospitality provided by my friend, roommate, landlord, and singing-by-the-fireplace partner.

I will also use this opportunity to preach to everyone…

Follow your passion.

Don’t be scared.

Life is short.
